2020 DEMPSEY CHRISTMAS CARD
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!
The Story
As you probably guessed, the front of our card is a very 2020 interpretation of the movie poster from Home Alone because, although we were certainly HOME a lot in 2020, we were NEVER, ever, ever, ever, ever ALONE.
While Catherine O'Hara had her moment on that flight ("KEVIN!!!"), John and Alison's moment of shock came on a cold spring day back in March when we got the call from school that they would be closing for in-person instruction through "at least March 27" (HAHAHAHAHA). <screams "COVID!!!!">
Alison immediately went into Type A mode and began creating daily hour-by-hour schedules (pictured on back of card) in a futile effort to survive homeschooling while working from home. Control what you can control, right?
Six months later, on the advent of the return of in-person school and our chance to finally live out Kevin Mcallister's reality of being Home Alone for a few hours...BOOM...Maeve Catherine Dempsey is born. Well, at least she's cute. ;-)
And there you have it...that's the story of how the critically unacclaimed family horror film NEVER ALONE came to be. 2 thumbs down. 1 out of 5 stars, 10% Rotten Tomatoes. That's 2020 for ya!
The Photo Shoot
Some of the film's anatagonists were more cooperative than others in this year's photo shoot. Maeve could do no harm with those chubby cheeks and dimpled chin and Nora was unsurprisingly comfortable playing the role of cute-but-psycho burglar. On the other side of the spectrum, if you think that scowl on Jack's face is great acting, think again--that's just the 100% natural look he gives his parents when they attempt to humiliate him for the 7th consecutive holiday season. (Hey kid, at least it's not a pink bunny suit this year?).
The Serious Part
In all seriousness, while 2020 has us missing our families, our friends, and our sanity, we continue to feel incredibly blessed to be happy, healthy and safe during such a tumultuous year. Wishing you and yours the same,
